Norstar phone systems, manufactured by Nortel Networks, are
the most popular brand of communication systems on the market today. Commonly
referred to as the Norstar ICS (Integrated Communications System), the platform
is comprised of fully digital switches, telephone sets, voice mails, and peripherals
that work together to provide reliable, feature-rich, and sophisticated communications
solutions for offices of varying in size -- from anywhere between 2 to 150
users.
The Norstar Compact 4x8 system is the smallest Norstar platform. It is feature-rich
and specifically designed for the small office or business requiring a maximum
of eight (8) telephones. The Nortel 4x8 system can support up to 4
incoming telephone (or Central Office, CO) lines, and has 8 stations.
If it is configured with voice mail, the most common configuration, the maximum
number of phones is seven, with the 8th station used by the voice mail unit.
The control unit has a built in automated attendant feature either for
business hours or after business hours. This feature allows customers to direct
their own calls to their desired extension. There is also an analog port built-in
to the control unit which will allow for an answering machine to be hooked
up and a general mailbox can be put on your system. This system is also voicemail
compatible.
Norstar combines the latest technological advances with Liquid Crystal
Displays (LCD) on every Norstar telephone, making it powerful, yet easy to
use. It's other advantage to your small business is its ease of installation
and compact size. The control unit requires a wall space of only three feet
by two feet. As your business grows, the Norstar 4x8 System can grow with
you by adding more functions and peripherals.

The Modular ICS was designed specifically for mid-sized to large businesses.
The System comes configured to support up to 8 incoming lines and up to 32
extensions, but it can be easily expanded. Start with the solutions you need
now, then add other applications when you're ready. The Norstar Compact ICS
is flexible, expanding with your growing business - easily and cost-effectively.
Because of its building-block design, you can quickly grow to as many as 30
incoming lines and 150 extensions with software and system expansion cartridges.
The Modular ICS is compact, too. The control unit can be mounted on as
